I think All the comments thus far are great, I also think its key that you get into something you can see yourself promoting or selling. In other words DON'T just do it for the Money or payout potential but get into a business or product/s you use, know a great deal about and or trust. Regardless of Which you choose there will be Work involved so its better to Enjoy what you'll be doing so it doesn't seem like work.

Most direct selling companies are all about the products they offer. Product that you as a distributor of their company must purchase and resell as part of the income opportunity. The average product-based company requires a monthly purchase to stay qualified for checks, in the neighborhood of $130 MPR. This order is in excess of personal consumption leaving you with extra product by the time your next order arrives. Over a 2-year period, a distributor for this company will pay $3120. If their family wishes to participate, they too will pay. For example: A family of four: father and mother, adult son and adult daughter living in three different households will pay in excess of $9360.
Direct selling companies that are product-based must inflate their product pricing to allow for commissions and profitability, often making them more expensive than comparable products in retail stores. Each distributor faces a dilemma and finds themselves asking: “How do I submit my friends and family to this ongoing expense?” and “How do I justify getting paid on my loved ones financial burden?”
