Amen to being overwhelming in this business.
Like other posts, do research until you feel totally comfortable.
A long-term example would be Ameriplan (www.wesaveandprotect.com) who has been around since 1992 and a leader in their industry.
Mid--term example would be StemTech (www.stemwellness.com) whih has been around for 6 years.
Short-term example would be MatchRate Plus (www.mymerchantcardbusiness.info) which is new, just starting last November but growing steady.
Anybody can now toss in multitudes of examples in between each of these examples.
The key is that I research hundreds and found these that fit into my business scope. Others have researched their examples and felt comfortable to go with them.
As I deal with my clients, it's value that's best suited to them, not about the money.

Although most here are looking or discussing what is a typical and wide variety of opportunities in the home-based business arena, I wanted to share 2 things I having fun with nd actually have made some money doing. As I was reading through your replies I couldnt help but to feel that you still may be overwhelmed by all the home based businesses out there. In fact, I was a little overwhelmed myself after reading these post. LOL Im not here to knock no ones hustle, believe me I get it........ but if you are looking to get involved with a company why not choose one that makes sense. Like they say if it makes dollars, it makes cents! The company that I am currently with has been around for over 10 years, it has made the Inc 500 list for fours years in a row, we've been on CNN, NBC, and 11 alive news. This company is a telecom, technology, and energy company. If you are going to start a business why not start one with a company that offer services that people use everyday and can NEVER pay off, such as cell phone, internet, gas, electric, satellite tv just to name a few. You can never call the phone or utility company and say I just want to pay this bill off! Its not going to happen, so why not get a piece of the pie? If you are looking for a Home Based Business, then the first thing is the Business should have Products and or Services that you would use if you are making money or not, that way it's something you would do anyway. This way you would fell good about sharing it with someone else. You must be a Believer of what you are offering. If the Business is asking for a large startup cost it is not so shure of it's Products or Services. So the best way to choose a Business is to find one that offers what you need or want(something that you would pay for anyway)without startup cost, and buy from yourself and offer the same to others, instead of selling the Products or Services, sell the Business to like minded Individuals, like yourself. There are some Businesses out there that are free to join, so there is no risk at all, and there are some that you just have to Purchase the Products or Services to be a member, either way it's a Win - Win for you and the Business. When I first started out looking for the right Opportunity, I was more interested in the one with Hype (how much money I could make) and easy (with out doing anything) it does not exist. No one can tell you how much money you will make, it is up to you stick with it till you do make some.
