This discussion is about providing value to one another -- NOT about posting your ads, banners, and videos (although I will allow signatures with links in them)... NOT even about recruiting for your business... In fact, be forewarned, if you do these things while posting here, I'll delete them.

In my opinion, it's time that we figure out that it's okay to be in different businesses (especially if your is internet-based, which is the vast area of all space and has the capacity to hold us all), remain competitive, and still share with one another those things that will empower and help those who truly want it -- understanding that everybody who says they do isn't willing to pay the price for achieving it.

From time-to-time I'll post tid-bits, free resources, and words of wisdom that will hopefully empower, encourage, provide a piece to your puzzle, etc., and allow you to achieve the level of success that I've been blessed with -- or even more. (I have no fear of this. :-) In fact, I encourage you to do so.) I ask that those who join this discussion do the same. My vision is that THIS be the place where any/all HBB members can go (whether they be old timers or newbies) and find VALUE so that THEY (WE) can learn, grow, and share our accomplishments and failures.

That being said, this discussion is open to all who care to donate, share, care, encourage, empower, uplift, teach, etc. A strict no-negativity policy will be in force... and enforced. :-) I wish you all everything that God has promised and look forward to you sharing your stories of success and achievement with me (as well as those gut-wrenching tales of failure that we all must endure in order to learn and grow). Here's to you!!!

Lonni,

You're so welcome! I look forward to you not just being a "learner" but soon making that transition to "teacher". :-) You're awesome!!

It is okay to be in different businesses. I see a lot of transmit mode in this network--not much listening or constructive exchange. What I'm about to say, I didn't make up myself: SUCCESS TAKES WORK. Probably many of the proposed home based businesses mentioned on this site can be successful with the right approach. I see a real value here for those truly looking for the right business for them. Those offering options to said individuals should deal staight and above-board. WHAT will it REALLY take. Do it with PASSION and you will get "these realistic results." THIS is good and appropriate business advice. Perhaps each offeror should do an extended, down to earth, description of their business' process. If these could be assimilated in some location one could review each until they found one that peaked their interest.
Dear Maverick,

You're absolutey right!!! Although I've been exposed to many home-based, MLM, independent-contractor businesses, I've actually ran across few that I felt were actual scams. Some I've been VERY successful at; some not so much. And, as you've said, I always gauge my "success"/results against my efforts.

I grew up in a home where my mom only worked in the home (domestic, as well as a part of my step-dad's business), and my step-dad ALWAYS had his own business -- to this very day, and he's about 70, I think. The mindset is completely different from working a j-o-b, punching a clock for somebody else. That's typically a major adjustment for people who don't understand the MENTAL toughness that's required -- and why I ALWAYS advise clients to invest in themselves, read, learn, work on their perspectives, etc. Plus, it's a saying I've heard a lot over the years, but I find it to be the absolute truth: You are and become who you hang around. So, you should always surround yourself with those who ARE where you want to be. (Notice that I didn't say that you should surround yourself with those who want to BE where you want to be. Or even that they're on their way to being where you want to be.)

You're also right in the fact that, when most people try to "recruit" somebody into their organization, they make promises of granduer (which actually sets that person up to fail) instead of being realistic with them and gaining their trust and respect in the long-run. For five years I was a recruiter -- and darn good at it, if I do say so myself -- and I can tell you that part of the reason WHY I think I was so successful doing it was BECAUSE I'd look people dead in the eye and tell them the truth: that the person I was looking for may not be them; that I wouldn't promise them riches untold seemingly overnight; that they'd have to put in "x" amount of hours per week in order to achieve the results they wanted. The extent of my promises were usually that I'd never give up on them as long as they didn't give up and quit; that I'd always do what I said I would (and expect them to do the same); and that I could understand a fear factor, but as long as they did what I instructed (knowing I could teach them EXACTLY what I'd done), failure was NOT going to be an option. Do you know that even when I relocated offices, nearly all of the people who I'd personally recruited and trained (because I hardly ever lost any) willingly transferred their allegiance to me at my new office location -- over three hours away!!

People do tend to be focused on themselves more than the person who they're dealing with. It's an often tragic mistake. The other nearly fatal mistake that I see all the time is the thought that "your" business is right for everybody; it's not. Different people have different apptitudes and will find more success in certain areas over others. Then, when the person figures this out, not only are they disgruntled with the company/opportunity, but with the person who recruited them as well because, in my opinion, a sort of resentment sets in. It's okay to NOT push your business onto people, and it's okay to NOT recruit everbody. (In fact, you should be VERY selective about who you DO recruit!)

Happy hunting to all of you searching for a good opportunity that suits you.
