The point of contests
I am very sad to discover that contests occasionally shut down creativity rather than inspire it. In my experience, having something on which to focus takes my mind places I never considered. It's like a road trip to somewhere I've never been or even considered traveling. This is why I am very sad when those who did not win the prize discard future adventures and possibilities. In my mind, entering is winning.
