- I am a happily married woman (this time around), living in Maine with the love of my life, David - we have 2 'fur babies' -Kita, our black lab, and Mack, our Maine coon cat.
However, I was born and raised in New Hampshire, within walking distance of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. My first college experience was from 1976-1980, at Nyack College in Nyack, NY - I earned a BA in Psychology there. I got married soon after that and spent the next couple of decades as a fulltime homemaker, raised 4 great kids (one son, 3 daughters), homeschooled them for 11 years, then sadly became a divorced, single mom.
Within the next few years, God blessed me with a new chance in life - with my kids well on their way to adulthood (late teens and twenties), I met David through - of all things - online dating :-) Things worked out very well for us and I eventually moved to Maine in 2003, and we got married in 2006. With David's encouragement and support, I went BACK to school - TWICE - got my AAS in Education/SLPA from KVCC here in Maine and was a speech therapist for about a year and a half, until last year's record high gas prices forced me to resign and come 'home' to work (I was traveling about 350 miles/week to various Head Start centers and preschools). Initially I completed my long delayed goal of earning my Master's in Education/Instructional Technology from AIU online and then I began doing freelance WAH jobs - primarily writing, proofreading/editing, and instructional design.
In addition, while I have been a seamstress for over 30 years and a quilter for over 15 years, I have been putting serious effort into my home biz (K-Lee's Kreations) of making customized home decor (quilts, pillows, wallhangings, & more), plus bags, and occasionally soft sculpture dolls and other crafts as time and motivation allow. A couple years ago, I added imprinting photos to my biz and that has become my specialty, as I make and sell more photo/memory products than anything else.
SEW :-) at this time, I have been blessed with TWO very busy WAH businesses - my "K-Lee's Kreations" biz, and my "K'Lee Banks, Freelancer" biz - given today's economic climate, I think it's great to be able to be busy and producing a decent income - from HOME! :-)
