Do You Have a Home Based Business?
Yes
Company or Business Name:
Appreciation Works
Mission:
My goal is to help others grow their businesses.
About Me (We read this!):
Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, the stage was set for Tari (rhymes with starry) to have her own business. Her parent's owned and operated a landscaping/nursery/floral and gifts business on the coast of Maine, just steps away from the North Atlantic. She never experienced either parent working for someone else, other than their clients of course. This likely laid the groundwork for her to have her own businesses. The entrepreneurial bug hit young... at less than 10 years of age, Tari was selling door-to-door, seeds, greeting cards, girl scout cookies and in fact won awards for high achievement! In recent years she has been an Independent Meeting Planner (Certified Meeting Professional) arranging meetings and events for attendees in the thousands. A great business to be in with young children as there was opportunity for travel (i.e. sanity maintenance), yet while not on the road, she was available full-time to her two kids, now almost grown. Once her children became adolescents the need to be at home 100% of the time resulted in her partnering with her husband, John Carter, in his payroll company, which they owned and operated for a total of 13 years.

Tari has taken her past experience as an entrepreneur and corporate employee and today enjoys a thriving new business, "Appreciation Works". Once again she and her husband John have partnered to offer a valuable service to business owners, managers, and lots of sales people where they can keep in touch with their clients, customers, and prospects. Having served over a thousand clients in the payroll business, it became clear that the area of showing appreciation is one that needs attention. "Coastal Payroll" experienced a client retention rate of over 97%. They attribute that success to always considering their clients needs first; making sure clients knew their business was never taken for granted; providing outstanding and highly personalized service; and treating their employees with the same level of care as their clients.

From walking the neighborhood and knocking on doors, to being raised in a small town family owned business where every customer and client was a neighbor, to running her own service business in an entirely different environment, Tari learned the key to any successful business is relationships. People do business with those they know, like and trust. How do we start a new business, develop a client base, and grow then maintain a large number of loyal followers? It's all about your relationships. According to John Maxwell: "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Relationship marketing is about making the effort to let your clients, prospects, and employees know they are important to you and that you value them and is proving to be more effective than traditional invasive marketing strategies.

As you may have noticed, Tari's upbringing has had a tremendous impact on who she is today and on the path her life has taken. Both of her parents were advocates for Dale Carnegie, the author of "How to Win Friends and Influence People". From the time she can remember, her dad praised the Dale Carnegie program and the effect it had on his life both personally and professionally. Her parents were fine examples of the value of Dale Carnegies principles of becoming friendlier, leadership development, overcoming worry and fear, and creating an attitude of peace and happiness. She knew it would only be a matter of time before she too would participate in a Dale Carnegie program. After she did, she became involved in more than one course as well as several "assisting" commitments for others going through the programs. Tari now understands why her father, after decades of time, sang praises for Dale Carnegie. Clearly, this impacted her decision to create a business, "Appreciation Works" where the focus is on expressing thanks, appreciation, and maintaining strong relationships.

Today her life has come full circle. The stage has been set for what is proving to be her most rewarding work. Tari helps others build their business, increase referrals, close more sales, maintain their client base and experience more enjoyment from their professional - and personal - relationships. Because she has her own business, her time is her own. Having time for personal development, to be available to her family, and to support the team of people she works with - which sometimes involves travel, is a highlight of being independent. Independence is key, in terms of time and financially. When you get to do what you love, make a difference in the lives of others, and are paid handsomely.... it just can't get any better!

Hello to all my friends (and hopefully some new ones)!

Whenever I come across free stuff, I try my hardest to pass it along to as many people as I can. Well, I have to tell you, I have stumbled across a mega goldmine for social networkers! It is a 580 page Social Networking Directory with over 3,000 sites listed and you are even able to "search" the book for networks that are relevent to your niche!

This is not like an e-book to read cover to cover, but more like the "yellow pages" of social networks.

Please grab a FREE copy of this directory and also feel free to add me as a friend, if I am not one already.

Enjoy and good luck to you and your business!

Feel free to add me as a friend and good luck to you and your business. You may also download a free e-book on ways to market your business. Here is the link: Free And Easy Internet Marketing Course Enjoy!
